A Vegetarian Diet May be Best for Humans, Really Folks - part 2

This is a continuation of my article on the same caption.
I am going over the several popular items consumed by non-vegetarians, why they may be actually harmful to your health and why you may want to consider a vegetarian diet as your dietetic choice. Okay, at least try it for a month or so and see what it’s like my friend.

Here we go, more harmful foods co-incidentally NOT in a vegetarian diet.

Milk:
The milk of any animal is basically too rich humans. It is highly acidic and mucus forming. The fact that man needs to drink the milk of another creature after it has been weaned of his own mother is actually laughable and propaganda hyped by its endorsers basically for their gain.
Being a predigested food, it has been shown to cause various complications in the stomach and colon, such as cramps and convulsions. Its calcium is highly difficult to assimilate. This results in its introduction in free form into the blood stream and an eventual deposition in the tissues, cells and joints where it may cause intense pain and suffering. Milk is loaded with antibiotics, bacteria, pesticides, cholesterol and powerful growth hormones that are deeply troubling to the human body.

Contrary to the hype, drinking milk will not prevent osteoporosis. In 1995, the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study conducted on over 75, 000 women revealed that those supposedly acquiring calcium from milk experience more fractures compared to those drinking little or no milk.

Animal milk is for the animal’s offspring and not you. Think about it. That being said, it is advisable to eliminate milk and all dairy from the diet for optimal health.

Though I have read that raw goat’s milk could be sufficient for nursing mothers to feed their babies, I’d say simply the milk in your mammary glands should be the most ideal . If for whatever reasons you feel like you cannot give milk up at least see to it that it is diluted and that you add some maple syrup to this solution.

Some research indicates that sour milk is less harmful and may even possess laxative qualities. Still I think for the creaminess it might offer, basic Avocadoes or occasional Coconut milk as made by the Brazilians would be way better choices.

Soy milk by the way is not much better than milk as they are basically legumes which are unbalanced protein-rich foods.

-Honey: This over-promoted, overpriced product being sold to gullible health faddists should be eliminated from your diet. It is meant only for the bees that make it.

Being predigested it enters the bloodstream rapidly raising the blood sugar way above normal. To correct this, the pancreas must produce insulin or death may occur.

Replace honey with genuine maple syrup for a much more balanced and safer, sweetener.

-Eggs: Even worse than meats. Research has shown they are very constipating and its white is dangerous, acid forming and too high in protein qualities.

-Fish: I’ve heard many people proudly declare “I don’t do red meat just fish and poultry!” However, they are very mistaken in that; although for the reasons given above-meat is highly detrimental for consumption, Fish is even worse. It putrefies much quicker than meat. If you cut a piece of fish and meat side by side, you’ll notice that the former decays much quicker than the latter. Imagine what it’s like on the inside of the body. Moreover, taking into consideration the heavy metal contamination that fish contains-based on the pollution of their habitat, Fish is an especially bad choice, so do yourself a favor, avoid fish at all times if you can!

Though some non-vegetarians show bodily vigor, they usually do not possess the vegetarian’s endurance and strength. Take a look at Bill Pearl, five-time winner of the Mr. Universe pageant. Even our distant cousins, the Apes in the wild, are vegetarians as well. After reading these factors, if you are still on the fence on how safe and healthy being a vegetarian can be for your health-or if you need to be convinced of its benefits-do not worry, becoming a vegetarian (a well balanced one that is) is definitely the biggest step you’ll be taking towards improving your health.

Benefits of Vegetarianism

A vegetarian diet can have many nutritional benefits if it is rich in fruits and vegetables and contains moderate amounts of seeds, nuts, whole grains, and legumes. One of the main benefits of a proper vegetarian diet is its low caloric content in relation to the bulk supplied, which helps maintain ideal weight.

Another benefit of the vegetarian diet is the much lower intake of fat, if dairy products, seeds and
nuts are eaten sparingly. This accounts for lower serium cholesterol levels found in vegetarians,
which considerably reduces the risk of developing heart diseases and breast and colon cancer.

A third nutritional advantage of the vegetarian diet is its high fibre content. Fibre, being
indigestible, increases the bulk of the faces, keeps them soft and makes them easy to expel.

One study has indicated that lacto-avo vegetarians consume twice as much and vagans four
times as much fibre as non-vegetarians. High fibre intake has been associated with decreased
risks of diseases of the colon, appendicits, cancer of the colon and rectum, hiatus hernia, piles
and varicose veins.

McCarrison, one of the greatest aurhoties on food, has outlined a perfect diet. According to him,
“a perfectly constituted diet is one in which the principal ingredients are milk, milk products, any
whole cereal grain or mixture of cereal grains, green leafy vegetables and fruits. These are the
protective foods. They make good the defects of other constituents of the diet, protect the body
against infection and disease of various kinds, and their use in sufficient quantity ensures
physical efficiency.”

Vegetarianism is thus a system based on scientific principles and has proved adequate for the
best nutrition free from the poisons and bacteria of diseased animals. It is the best diet for man’s
optimum, physical, mental, and spiritual development.

The Truth About Losing Weight On A Vegetarian Diet

“It does not matter what you eat. Just don’t eat a lot, exercise, and your weight will not be a problem.” True? Not quite!

There is scientific evidence that a vegetarian diet keeps that weight down, whereas meat eaters put it on. What you eat does matter.

You know that weight loss is an industry. A money-making industry with many claims to make: Claims of weight loss pills, herbs and juices. Claims of exercise machines and exercise programmes. Claims of high-fat, no fat or lean diets. Which work? Which do not? How to find those things that work? It is bewildering. And expensive!

The US FDA has warned against the effectiveness of a number of products that are being marketed. They include fat or starch blockers, weight loss chewing gum and body wraps.

Even weight loss earrings and spectacles are in this list. Perhaps the last one is effective when your friends wear them to look at you?

By contrast, vegetarians and vegans know what they eat and why they eat it. They save money and lose weight.

Weight loss of both your body and your wallet? Why not.

Vegetarian food production is inherently cheaper than that of meat.

Just like a high fibre vegetarian diet goes through your system faster, the vegetarian food production chain is short compared to that of growing meat. Growing animals for meat is after all energy-intensive, time-consuming and expensive.

For instance, it takes five kilograms of grain to produce one kilogram of beef. It is that concentrated energy that you eat. And it’s not high-fibre.

Short production cycles are better for the planet and shorter digestive processes are better for you.

Perhaps you do not even need special low calorie vegetarian recipes to lose weight. A vegetarian or vegan diet appears to be a recipe for weight loss in itself! At least it represents an excellent start.

Consider the latest research.

Vegetarian and vegan diets work

Recent British scientific research is based on a study of 22,000 people who were followed over five years. All participants put on weight over that time. However, meat eaters who changed to a vegetarian diet gained the least weight.

Prof Tim Keys, who led this study for the University of Oxford and Cancer Research UK, obtained interesting results that are contrary to popular beliefs. His study is published in the Journal of Obesity.

He said: “Contrary to current popular views that a diet low in carbohydrates and high in protein keeps weight down, we found that the lowest weight gain came in people with high intake of carbohydrates and low intake of protein.”

The study involved meat eaters, fish eaters, vegetarians and vegans. On average the entire human sample population gained 2 kilos over the five years and none of them were overweight. The less consumption of animal products, the less weight was gained, leaving the vegans on top, with vegetarians runners-up.

And the bit about exercising then? Well, it’s part of a holistic picture it seems. The study also found that those who became more physically active gained less weight than those who did not. No surprises there.

So, not good news for vegan couch potatoes and a ray of hope for raging carnivores? Well, the simple message is, whatever you eat, physical activity is part of the weight loss, and health-deal.

Health too? Yes, this study is part of a larger investigation by EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition), comparing half a million people’s diets in 10 countries to learn how diet is linked to cancer. Results from EPIC’s investigation show that diet is a leading cause of some cancers.

A balanced vegetarian or vegan diet is good for your health.

Take diabetes, often a condition associated with inadequate diet and being over-weight. The EPIC study has revealed that diabetics carry three times the normal risk of developing colo-rectal cancer.

And a recent Australian study even suggests that a diet that is rich in vegetables and fruit can reduce the effects of asthma attacks.

The wider benefits of choosing a vegetarian or vegan diet for weight loss are obvious.

But perhaps you’d still rather take the ‘easy way’ out and continue to eat meat. Meat perhaps that has been engineered for your ‘health’?

Voila! Researchers at Harvard University have now engineered pigs to produce “healthy forms of bacon, ham and pork crackling.”

Three little pigs were genetically modified to carry Omega 3-converting genes of a nematode worm. This gives the meat of these three little research pigs the benefits of fats and oils found in fish and vegetables!

Talk about a long production process to get the same benefits from plants that take a fraction of the energy and time to produce.

I’m telling no porky: before long pigs will fly But do you want to eat them?

Motivation

Weight loss may be your focus but you can see that its achievement is connected to a holistic picture, including your health and that of the world we live in. That is why you could say that many vegetarians and vegans are socially responsible eaters.

Perhaps that insight will give you the motivation to become a vegetarian or vegan: to lose weightand to discover a whole new world!

Of course some people have medical conditions that cause them to be over weight.

It would be foolish to recommend a vegetarian diet as a miracle cure in those instances. But in all other cases of being over weight there is one over-riding thing that you need: motivation.

If you know why you want to lose weight you will do it. Motivation is everything. The evidence is in on effectiveness of vegetarian diets with respect to weight loss.

If you also know that you are doing your body and the planet a favour by losing weight through vegetarian or vegan diets then what are you waiting for?
