Vegetarian Lifestyle

June 14th 2008

Being vegetarian is one of the greatest things in the world. From good health to sufficient energy in your daily life. Eating healthy is one of the easiest ways to ensure both your mood and physical wellbeing remain at their positive peek.

Uplift Your Mood

If you have an attack of the blues, try drinking some tea made from walnut. Walnuts are plentiful with the mood boosting chemical serotonin. Brew this wonderful little food in hot water (easier for the body to acquire the serotonin) and drink away much of your blues. The recipe is simple, use half a shell walnut for each cup of hot water and steep for 3 minutes and drink 4 to 6 cups daily.

Apart from uplifting your mood, walnuts also protects your heart from coronary disease, lowers cholesterol, boost your memory, fights cancer, enhance blood flow and of course lifts your mood.

Best Salad Dressing

Researchers recommend using salad dressing with full fats in salads to gain the full benefits of carotenoids. Their research showed that people that ate low fat dressing, absorbed very little of the carontenoids, people that ate none fat dressing, absorbed almost zero of the nutrients, but those who ate full fat dressing, absorbed the most of these little wonders. It should be noted that eating cheese, nuts and avocado do allow you to absorb as much carontenoids as possible according to researchers.

Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea has long been known for the numerous benefits it provides. As a vegetarian, it’s important not to overlook this tea as part of your daily or regular diet. The tea aids in the fight of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, infection and impaired immune function. But what about the negative effect of insomnia since it contains caffeine? What about it, the fact that it makes you a little sleepy far out weights the benefits. Also, the caffeine in it contains 30 to 60 milligrams per 8 ounces of tea. Compare that to over 100 milligrams in 8 ounces of coffee.

If that’s not enough to convince you of making green tea part of your diet, lets look at the Japanese study of the benefits of green tea against dioxin. Dioxin is a byproduct of paper and plastic manufacturing. It is released into the air and settles in the soil which finally makes its way into your food. Dioxin causes birth defects, increases your risk of cancer and suppresses your immunity. The Japanese researchers say that several antioxidant compounds in green tea prevent dioxin from destroying DNA and cells. Epigallocatechin gallate is one of the antioxidants that does a fabulous job in preventing dioxin’s effects. Epigallocatechin gallate also makes up for one-third of green tea’s antioxidant compounds.

By now you should be convinced of all the positives of green tea being a staple in your vegetarian diet.

Juice Sensibility

May 16th 2008

Apart from eating many of the wonderful vegetables and fruits that inhabit our planet, drinking them is equally nourishing and satisfying. Juicing vegetables and fruits can also create a dynamic taste treat, causing your taste buds to dance with undiscovered delight. If you’re new to juicing, I recommend only juicing vegetables and fruits that you enjoy eating. As time goes on, you can try out other foods as well as increased amounts of those foods.

Concentrated Nutrients

As a dedicated vegetarian, you are well aware of the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables daily. What you may not have known, is that by actually juicing these delicious foods, you are consuming the maximum concentrated benefits of their nutrients. How? Simple, when you cook food, you loose up to 97% of their nutrients. That’s quite a loss huh? There are certain precautions and methods towards picking, storing and cooking food, that will minimize the loss of nutrients, but that’s another article. Suffice to say, juicing your foods will retain almost a 100% if not all depending on certain circumstances. When you juice, you take raw vegetables and fruits to do the job. Because juicing produces no heat or any other method that causes nutritional loss, you consume high levels of nutrients.

Vital Nutrients

There are some nutrients like certain antioxidants that do an outstanding job fighting lung cancer, stroke and heart disease. By cooking away anywhere from 74% to 97% of these nutrients, you are actually doing yourself a disservice and a potentially lethal one at that. There are other numerous nutrients that also fight disease on our behalf. To consume the entire village, start juicing and drinking them on a regular basis. Nutrients like beta carotene and other carotenoids do great things such as boosting your immunity system.

No Pulp Fiction

It’s a known fact that when you juice, pulp remains in the juicer. Over the years there have been many views on what do with that pulp and why. From just discarding it to employing other culinary uses for it. In essence, that pulp contains high levels of fiber and truly should not be thrown out. Fiber has too many benefits to simply dismiss it so easily. Some experts recommend using the pulp in food and others suggest putting some of the pulp back into the juice for greater health rewards. What I can tell you is that the pulp acts as a fertilizer for the good bacteria in the colon and that’s a definite plus.

Cheers To Juicing

Well! There are many different views on juicing by many different experts, but no matter the differences, they can all agree on one thing, juicing, whatever the method use, contain far more positives than the many differences and opinionated views varying experts concede to have. Not juicing is a none option in today’s world of undernourished bodies and minds. Start juicing and gain the many nutrients that your body craves. A nutrient fortified body is able to prevent and fight off various diseases and ailments that come under attack on a daily basis.

Living Naturally - Natural Health and Skincare

April 1st 2008

Today’s lifestyle leaves us open to a daily chemical assault, from the air we breathe to the water we drink, and the skincare and haircare products we use daily. It is not known what the long-term effects of these chemicals will be, but one thing’s for sure, it can’t be good.

Some people are unaware of the huge amounts of additives in their food, water and personal care products. Some are too busy to care, and others have the attitude ‘ Yes I know, it’s awful,
but what can you do?’

The informed, wise people out there though, are taking a different view. Any species that fails to live in harmony with it’s natural environment will eventually make itself extinct. Fact. It’s nature. If human beings carry on the way they are going, they will indeed end up extinct..

For instance, 100 years ago, cancer affected approximately 1 in every 50 people. Now it strikes 1 in 3. It won’t be long before it is striking half the population. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that our lifestyle is the biggest factor influencing this increase.

Diet especially, is of paramount importance when it comes to maintaining good health, but so many people ignore this fact and fill their bodies ( and their kids) with low-nutrient , chemical and additive filled junk.

When people eat meat, they are consuming the same chemicals and hormones that the animal ate. Obesity is on the sharp increase,
and it’s not surprising considering that the majority of obese people are meat-eaters. They eat the meat, the meat is full of growth hormones and chemicals, the growth hormones are absorbed into the human body, so the person gets fatter. Want my advise -if your are overweight and seriously want to lose weight - go on a low fat vegetarian diet.

If your body had a choice, it would ask for lots of fresh organic fruit and vegetables, preferably raw. Your body would choose clean , fresh water ( I mean pure bottled spring water, not the stuff that comes out of your tap at home). Think about how much fresh water you consume in a day, and by that I mean water not mixed with squash, tea , coffee or anything else. I bet it’s not much. Do your body a favour, next time you reach for the fizzy drink, reach for the mineral water instead.

Tap water is just another way that we are being poisoned on a daily basis. It contains chemicals, hormones and in a lot of areas it also contains fluoride. Yes, sodium fluoride , that old favourite. The stuff they put in toothpaste is the same stuff they use to make rat-poison ! Surprised. Sodium fluoride is not the same as naturally-occuring calcium flouride. People tend to think calcium flouride is what goes into toothpaste and the water supply, wrong.

Sodium fluoride is a by-product of aluminium smelting and other industries. It’s nothing more than toxic waste. For years it was very expensive to dispose of, until someone decided to make up some rubbish about it being good for our teeth, so they could get away with disposing of it in our water supply.

This of course was done without public agreement.Nice, thanks for that, I’ll stick to the bottled stuff.

Sodium fluoride builds up in the body over time, and causes cancer, it makes bones softer so they fracture more easily, and it doesn’t protect your teeth, in fact it has the opposite effect. Sodium flouride is a main ingredient in anesthetic,
hypnotic, and psychiatric drugs as well as military nerve gas.

Sodium fluoride promotes mental disturbances. The Nazi’s added it to the water supply at the concentration camps during the war, to help sterilize the prisoners and force them to be calm
and submissive.

Sodium Fluoride has a poisonous and narcotic effect on a certain area of the brain, which makes the person submissive and less able to resist those who wish to control him. It’s a way of controlling of the masses. Hmmmm, makes you wonder what the government have in mind for us today……

When we look at the skincare and haircare products we use daily, most contain sodium lauryl ( or laureth ) sulfate. This is a foaming agent which is so harsh that it was first used as engine degreaser! Fancy that, washing your skin and hair in something harsh enough to strip oil off a garage floor. No wonder we’re all spending a fortune on moisturisers! Hmmm, am I just paranoid or do you think there could be some method in their madness……

So they put this SLS in your shampoo, shower gel, bath foam, toothpaste etc, and then add moisturising ingredients to the same products to counteract the drying effects of the SLS. Why not just buy products without SLS? That’s what the smart people are doing. That’s what I do.

Since I stopped using commercial shampoos and skincare products, and switched to all natural skin care products, and natural hair care products, my skin and hair are gorgeous. My hair that was once frizzy and dry is now curly and shiny.

Since I began using organic, aromatherapy based skin care, my skin that was once so shiny from all the grease and additives from my previous moisturiser, is now so soft , much younger looking, and I don’t need powder or foundation because my skin is great!

I use non-flouride toothpaste, and I take vitamin and mineral supplements every day. I eat organic fruit and vegetables only, I drink only bottled water, I am vegetarian so I eat a very natural , low fat diet, that’s full of nutrients. I have never felt so healthy.

If you value your body, your health and your life,as well as your children and other loved ones, you owe it to yourself to change your lifestyle right now.
